wip Wednesday {1/9/13}

I've missed out on a few wip Wednesdays lately and I'm going to try to better about blogging this year. I'm pretty happy with how much I accomplished in 2012 even with working full-time and having a very busy little guy who started kindergarten in the fall. I want to accomplish even more in 2013 so I've decided to make lists to try and stay more organized and on-task. And how I love crossing things off my to-do list!

So today I'm working on more half-square triangles for the Madrona Road challenge.

And siggy blocks for an exchange.

For our January do. Good Stitches blocks, the WISH circle is making Arkansas Traveler blocks in raspberry, peach, coral, cream and navy blue. I had to buy some fabrics for these because aside from navy blue, those are not colors I normally use! They are going to make a beautiful quilt, though. The block is from this Freshly Pieced tutorial.

I signed up for the Lucky Stars Block of the Month Club with Don't Call Me Betsy. I am excited at the prospect of having a quilt's worth of beautiful star blocks at the end of the year but I'm already stressed about getting behind! I think I'm going for a scrappy quilt to keep costs down and use up some of my fabric scraps.

I'm continuing to add to the pile of knit remnants on my sewing room floor.  I've got to stop buying fabric or start sewing more infinity scarves. I'm addicting to making and wearing them but how many scarves does one person need? :)

  1. Can't wait to see what you do with Madrona Road HST's. I LOVE making lists. Sometimes I'll add something I've already done just so I can cross it off the list. There is nothing more satisfying than feeling accomplished. I'm going to check out that infinity link. I think I might need one.

  3. I've been trying to get a blog post written since the beginning of the year and almost got one up today. I'm trying not to feel too bad though, because I actually did cross everything else off my list... E's therapy appt, mail bee blocks, pick up hexagon paper pieces at LQS (get sidetracked by solids, design, work the math out and buy 8 yards of fabric then one home and find a similar quilt in a book with the math already done and discover I bought the exact right amount of fabric either way), pick up kids late from preschool (quilty math can get distracting), create WIP spreadsheet (27 quilts, 9 small projects, 4 bees), write have of a WIP post, L's speech appt, sew three rows of blocks for current quilt, last minute babysitting for a friend's 1 & 4 year old, homework/reading with 3 elementary schoolers, drop off extra kiddie and take 3 of mine to dance classes, make Sat lunch plans with a friend... I probably just should have gone downstairs and written a post now, but I can barely move. So instead I guess I'll just blog in your comments and say that I'm impressed with your ability to keep yourself on task. I'm sure you noted my 27 quilts list, so you can imagine how little I needed to design and buy fabric for another one today. I think my 2013 goal is to refrain from starting anything new or adding to my stash. I'm afraid if I actually announce it though, I'll be stuck following through and where's the fun in that?

  4. Please excuse the typos. I hate the auto correct on my phone!

  5. Can't wait to see how our quilts turn out against each other. I assume they will be totally different even though we are both using HSTs of Madrona Road. :)
