I had fun participating in the last Sew, Mama, Sew! giveaway (and even won something!) and am excited to be participating again. One lucky winner will win a pair of morsbags. Of course I haven't finished the bags yet, but they will look like this--
To be entered to win, just leave a comment on this post (one comment per person, please) about one environmentally friendly thing you do (or want to start doing)--no matter how small it may seem. I will use random.org to choose one winner from all comments left by 12 midnight CST on Thursday, May 20, 2010. I will ship the item by May 24, and I will ship internationally. Thanks for participating!
ETA: I finished one of the bags, so here's a picture of what you will actually receive--
I need a new bag to carry my crochet around in and that fabric is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI use a lot of thrift shop finds-fabric, old doileys and lace and I love to repurpose jewellery.
We use reusable market bags.
ReplyDeleteI actually am into recycling old clothing... and i also make grocery bags out of recycled newspaper... and i get it all done from women from the slums of my city...you can visit my blog for more details...
ReplyDeletehi there!
ReplyDeletei do lots of eco friendly things everyday. it's easier than most people think and it really makes a difference.
just to name a few:
i don' use plastic bags,
and i recycle every bottle, can, tetra pak, etc,
i use the eco programs in both machines when washing dishes and clothes,
i use the water from washing food to water plants,
use economic lights in all the lamps and never leave them on when we're not around
try to have quicker showers
we turn the water off when brushing teeth and when husband is shaving
etc
etc
...
:)
One of my New Year's resolutions this year is not to use plastic bags any more -- so I'm always carrying around reusable bags. These would definitely be more stylish than my bought-at-the-supermarket green bags!
ReplyDeleteLovely bag! I've started doing more recycling, purchased as many things as possible that sre used. There are some wonderful things out there since we are a toss away society. Thanks for the give away and I'm also having one and I'll post a link from my blog post today.
ReplyDeleteYay, a green giveaway :D We try to be very careful with what we buy, I only take a plastic bag if I forget my reusable one (more often now that I have preggo brain) or when I go to the butcher or fish market and we will be using cloth dipes again once baby arrives.

Awesome, a fellow environmentalist!
ReplyDeleteWe grow the majority of the produce we eat in the spring/summer/fall. Gotta shrink that carbon footprint! Come check out my own green giveaway... I re-purposed an old wool sweater into a stuffed monster :)
I LOVE morsbags! I use them for everything. That is one small thing I am doing, using morsbags at the grocery store, in the car, to grandma's, and anywhere I need to carry something I would usually grab for plastic. We also have started using washclothes for wiping up the kids after meals and wiping the table from all the miss the kids make. This saves us money and our landfills from many baby wipes, paper towels, and clorox wipes. Thanks for the great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI TRY to remember to bring my grocery bags instead of using the stores
ReplyDeletestacey at ellebellebaby dot com
I am just starting to use cloth bags at the grocery store so this would be a perfect prize for me! Thanks for the chance. We also are recyling paper and cans and plastic.
ReplyDeletepbclark(at)netins(dot)net
What a fantastic giveaway! We just bought bikes to get around instead of driving so much and we have given up water bottles. Here's hoping I can add reusable bags to my list!
ReplyDeleteI love that sheet. We try hard to be green around here. I use my reusable bags when I remember them. We water out garden with rainwater. We compost. We recycle. Little things that hopefully add up to something significant!
ReplyDeleteEnvironmentally friendly...I made all my own grocery bags and carry them. Thanks for the giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteOne green thing we do... use reusable bags instead of plastic :)
ReplyDeleteI leave all the lights off until i have no choice but to turn them on and recycle as much as possible.

ReplyDeleteAwesome! I really want to use reusable bags, but haven't bought/made any yet. :( I am super cheap, though, so it's motivated me to do a couple of environmentally friendly things: we cloth diaper and keep the heat at 62 in the winter, AC at 78 in the summer. It's not much, but I'd like to think it's a small contribution.
ReplyDeletei use reusable shopping bags, but these would be much cuter than what I currently have! shanaheaton@hotmail.com

ReplyDeletehutchyhutch87(at)yahoo(dot)com
Great bag! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI don't think you can ever have too many fabrics bags. Especially the kind that can fold up really small. I've made it mandatory here that the breaker switch is flipped to off for any appliance or room of the house that won't be in use for a while. I'm anticipating a pretty good drop in the amount of electricity use our house accumulates as the microwave/coffee pot are no longer drawing electricity constantly to keep clocks and electromagnets charged and the water heater is only heating when we actually need hot water.
ReplyDeleteWe cloth diaper. Reuse and recycle what we can.

ReplyDeleteoooh I can hear the little miss now .... staaarrrrs
ReplyDeletewe don't own a car, travel everywhere by motorcycle(half the footprint of a car in more ways than one) or public transport...... and recycling... and the shopping bags thing when we remember, they hold up to carrying things much better than plastic does anyway
then theres the washing machine water for our front lawn (ideally it would flush the loo too but not an option for the moment)
I walk home from work or carpool. Thanks for the giveaway.
