Modern HST BOM 2022 {October Block!}

This post contains affiliate links.

It's October which brings us to the final 3 blocks and last row of the 2022 Modern HST BOM!

For the monthly blocks, you can use any size block unit you like, and the half rectangle triangles will be a 1:2 ratio. I am using the AccuQuilt GO! Half Rectangle Triangle Die (3" x 6" Finished) (This die is still 50% off, and you can snag it for just $27.50!)  Zina is using the Deb Tucker Studio 180 Split Rect Ruler which is available from many online shops including Fat Quarter Shop. With this ruler, you can make multiple sizes of half retangle triangles in the 1:2 ratio needed for the BOM. If you're just now finding the BOM, there's a little more info from the first post back in February.

For the October block, these are the block units you will need.

I designed the October block:

If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments. If you're on Facebook, you can check out my posts and join the discussions on my Facebook page. I'm most active on Instagram, and you can follow my posts @stephjacobsondesigns along with my cohostess Zina @zanymouse. The official hashtag for this year's HST BOM is #modernHSTBOM2022, so be sure to tag your posts so we can find your beautiful work! Even though we're 9 months into the BOM, there is still plenty of time to jump in and start sewing!

You can also check out the hashtag for last year's HST BOM (#modernhstbom2021) to see all the amazing things that were--and still are being--created. The Houston Modern Quilt Guild is using the 2021 HST BOM as their guild BOM this year, and there are some amazing, modern blocks being made. Check them out...#hmqgbom22!

For those of you that are members of the Modern Quilt Guild, Quiltcon will be held February 23-26, 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia. QuiltCon entries are open now until October 31. If you have made quilts (or have one that you can complete by the 10/31 deadline) from any of the HST BOMs, I think these are great examples of modern traditionalism. I urge you to submit them!

Happy sewing!
